The Cleveland National Forest is the southern-most of the national forests in California. Its 567,000 acres are located in Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties, at elevations ranging from 460 to 6,271 feet. A warm, dry, Mediterranean climate prevails over the Cleveland National Forest—-hot in the summer, mild in the winter. Most of the forest vegetation is chaparral, predominantly coastal sage, chamise, manzanita,, and ceanothus. 40403.2018ed
