Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route (AZBDR) - Arizona BDR Series Map

$ 26.95

Rocky, remote, and surprisingly green, the Arizona BDR is a rugged 750-mile backcountry motorcycle route that showcases the state’s wild, diverse terrain. While Arizona is known for its desert heat, this route reveals a side of the Southwest many riders never expect—lush mountains, high-elevation forests, historic sites, and hidden Grand Canyon viewpoints few tourists ever reach.

Starting at the U.S.–Mexico border, the route winds north through remote southeastern Arizona, staying east of Tucson and Phoenix. Riders explore iconic landscapes and cultural landmarks including Empire Ranch, the ancient Sierra Ancha Cliff Dwellings, the towering Mogollon Rim, Saguaro-studded deserts, and the colorful Vermilion Cliffs. The route also traverses the Navajo Nation, where you might spot wild horses roaming freely across vast plateaus.

With optional detours to Grand Canyon overlooks and remote backroads through alpine wilderness, the Arizona BDR is one of the most rewarding and diverse adventure motorcycle routes in the country.

Ideal Riding Season: Ride the AZBDR in April through June or late September to October for the best conditions. July and August should be avoided due to extreme heat and unpredictable monsoon storms.

For ADV riders craving solitude, scenery, and serious terrain, the Arizona BDR map is your key to unlocking the wild heart of the Southwest.
